(VOV) - Nearly 200 young overseas Vietnamese (OV) on July 15 attended a requiem in Thai Binh province to commemorate war martyrs and those who died in the historic 1945 famine.
Young OVs pay tribute to late President Ho Vietnam Summer Camp 2012 opens The young people, who have returned to Vietnam from nearly 30 countries around the globe, are taking part in the annual Vietnam Summer Camp organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They also offered incense at the Tran Temple relic complex in Hung Ha district to pay tribute to Tran Kings in the 14 th century.
The requiem is part of nationwide activities to celebrate the 65 th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
It’s worth remembering that the historic famine struck 32 Northern provinces of Vietnam in 1945, killing approximately 2 million residents.
