The Ho Chi Minh City Writers’ Association receives a traditional flag from the city’s People’s Committee
Over the last three decades, the association has been gathering writers, critics and literary translators to increase its initial membership of 120 to more than 400 members today.
With contributions from creative writers of all ages from various regions, the association has strived to fulfill its political tasks and meet the people’s cultural and spiritual needs.
Experienced writers, writing camps and other activities have helped enhance the capacity of young writers, and a variety of literary works are published each year, featuring the vivid life in the city, the beauty of all social strata, and the roles of the people in developing and protecting the country.
Critics contribute to publicising Party and State policies, as well as complimenting and encouraging outstanding works and criticising distortions and negative viewpoints.
On the occasion, the association received a traditional flag from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and four senior writers, Nguyen Quang Sang, Anh Duc, Le Van Thao and Tran Thanh Giao, and late poet Chim Trang, received certificates of merit.
