PANO - Bac Lieu Province, on Sept 9th, started construction of the first and largest wind-power plant in the Mekong Delta region.
Located on a coastal area in the Bien Dong A Hamlet, Vinh Trach Dong Commune, Bac Lieu Town, the 500 hectare wind-power plant, with a designed capacity of 99MW, will produce 310 million KWh a year.
With Ca Mau-based Cong Ly Tourism-Trade-Construction Co., Ltd as its major investor, the project is expected to be completed in 36 months at a cost of over VND4.5 trillion.
Once completed and put into operation, the plant will help deal with the current shortage of electricity in Vietnam, and accelerate the usage of clean renewable energy to protect the environment, affirmed Nguyen Nam Hai, Deputy-Minister of Industry and Trade.
