Work begins on first industrial-agricultural zone

HCMC – Dong Nai Food and Industry Corporation, or Dofico, has started construction of an industrial and agricultural zone in Xuan Loc District at a cost of VND1.9 trillion.
The country’s first such zone will cover more than 2,000 hectares with five functional areas – one for husbandry, one for cultivation, one for food processing, one for hi-tech agriculture and one for trading. In the first phase, the zone is expected to be put into operation in 2013 and its investment in this phase will amount to VND1.4 trillion.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony over the weekend, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the zone would help promote the brands of hi-tech agricultural products in the province.
Work on the second phase is scheduled to start in 2014.
Dofico took the occasion to sign memoranda of understanding on cooperation with eight local and foreign investors.
Dofico is the State-run company with 32 member enterprises and total chartered capital of VND4.5 trillion.
