(VOV) - Six people were killed and 111 others were injured after whirlwinds battered the southern provinces of Binh Duong, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, and Vinh Long from July 30 to August 4.

The National Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control reported that more than 2,000 houses were also destroyed.
Meanwhile the Committee’s counterpart in northern Bac Kan province said that a whirlwind killed one person and blew off the roofs of 52 houses in Ba Be district.

The provincial and municipal People’s Committees have directed the relevant local authorities to help victims quickly overcome difficulties and to offer them relief. Nearly VND1.2 billion has been donated to whirlwind victims.
The water levels at effected rivers are currently receding.
