Nhan Dan - Three streets around the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum including Chua Mot Cot, Ong Ich Khiem and Hung Vuong will be open for pedestrians from May 19 on the occasion of the President Ho Chi Minh's 122nd birth anniversary.
The Hanoi municipal Transport Department, in co-ordination with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board (HCMMMB), the city Police Department and the Ba Dinh district People’s Committee, are responsible for implementing the plan.
According to the HCMMMB, the plan aims to ensure security, order and safety in the area around the Mausoleum and create more favourable conditions for visitors from Vietnam and abroad.
All vehicles will be banned from these walking routes for 24 hours except during special tributes to President Ho Chi Minh and other important events.
The HCMMMB will also provide vehicle passes for agencies, organisations and individuals who are currently working and living in the area, and they must limit the speed of their vehicles to 15km per hour.
