Leaders of Regiment 497 welcomes Vietnam’s high-ranking military political delegation
PANO – During the working visit to Laos, Vietnam’s high-ranking military political delegation, led by Lieutenant-General Ngo Xuan Lich, Head of the General Department of Politics, on October 18 th , visited Commando Regiment 497 of the Lao People’s Army.
After being briefed on the Regiment’s achievements over the past years and visiting its headquarters, General Lich and the delegation spent more time exchanging with the Regiment’ leaders about political works. During the anti-American resistance war of the Lao people, Regiment 497 always stood side by side with Vietnamese voluntary troops, gaining many feats of arms and making contributions to the Lao national liberation.
From this tradition, the General hoped that leaders and troops of the Regiment would continue to carry out dissemination and education to younger generations to strengthen the Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship in general, and two sides’ armies in particular.
In addition, the General and the delegation were interested in the Lao army unit’s experiences in Party-building activities and ideological education.
On the same day, the high-ranking Vietnamese military political delegation also visited the Nam Ngum Hydro-power Plant, the Laos’ largest plant, with capacity of 1,600MW with five turbines, including four already operational.
