Vietnam ’s Huynh Phuong Dai Trang swept the women’s singles and doubles titles at Vietnam International Junior Tennis Championship Techcombank Cup.
Trang, 16, beat Russian fourth seed Anna Tyulpa 6-1, 6-2 to win the singles title at Quan Hoa tennis court in Hanoi on Oct. 17.
The 16-year-old dominated Tyulpa in the first set with powerful serves and backhands, winning in 21 minutes.
Tyulpa regrouped to lead the first game of the second set but was overtaken by hard shots to the corners by Trang, the tournament’s top seed, who cruised home 6-2 in 27 minutes.
In the doubles title final, HCM City products Trang and Nguyen Ai Ngoc Van beat Tyulpa and fellow Russian Kristina Chasovskikh, 7-6 (3), 7-5.
In the men’s side, teenager Nguyen Hoang Thien and partner Leander Lazaro of the Philippines beat Tefan Milenkovic and Oskar Wikberg from Sweden, 7-5; 6-3.
Earlier, Wikberg won the men’s singles title when he beat countryman Stefan Lindmark.
Thien, 14, played below his potential in the singles to be defeated 4-6; 4-6 by Wikberg in the semi-final./.
