Vien Phu JSC received an organic rice certification from the global agency BIO Organic and an Organic Foods certification under the US Organic Food Production Act. The certificates were provided by Control Union Vietnam, a Netherlands-based organisation responsible for evaluating and certifying organic rice.
To be recognised with organic food certification, products must not contain any antibiotics, insecticide residue, chemical fertilizer, coloring, addictives and preservatives. Organic produce is highly valued in many countries as a guaranteed source of healthy and fresh food.
To maintain the certification, Vien Phu JSC will co-operate with between 10,000 – 20,000 farming households to expand the organic rice fields from 10,000 to 20,000 hectares.
