First Secretary and Chairman of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva, Nguyen The Thinh, said that all staff of the mission actively promoted Ha Long Bay’s image to overseas Vietnamese when they come to the head office and they go to great lengths to canvass their friends and colleagues at home and abroad to vote for Ha Long Bay.
Responding to the campaign for Ha Long Bay, Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland, Hoang Van Nha, said that the embassy organised activities to introduce Vietnam’s culture and tourism and garner votes from the Vietnamese community in Switzerland to support the destination.
Currently, many members of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Switzerland, the Switzerland – Vietnam Friendship Association and students in Switzerland cast votes for Ha Long Bay through Internet, sending messages or calling.
In additional, overseas Vietnamese in Switzerland and the neighboring regions of France said that they voted for Ha Long Bay and also encouraged their relatives to express their love for the homeland by supporting the destination to become one of the world’s seven new natural wonders.
Since New7Wonders launched the campaign selecting the new seven natural wonders of the world in 2007, Ha Long Bay always placed near the top and became one of 28 destinations in the world in the final round.
