The two prizes for "Pearls of the Far East".
The CAIFF, which is one of the most successful and fastest-growing film festivals in California, attracted many films from countries around the world.
‘Ngoc Vien Dong’, is a series of seven short films about seven Vietnamese women from different generations, who have varying lifestyles and dissimilar dreams. The film, was adapted from Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc’s stories, and depicted the image of Vietnamese women in diverse ways. The film’s first appearance was also highly appreciated at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival.
The film stars Vietnamese leading actresses, including People’s Artist Nhu Quynh, Ngo Thanh Van, Truong Ngoc Anh, Hong Anh, Diem My, Kieu Trinh and Kieu Chinh. Writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, co-screenwriter, also played in a part of film.
The film will be shown to Vietnamese audiences in early March.
