Themed “Lotus”, the Vietnam Cultural Evening took place in on June 9th in Brussels, Belgium.

The evening, organised by Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium, under the auspices of Ms. Yanou Collart and Jean-Pierre Grivory, aims to promote Vietnamese food culture in response to a campaign for voting Halong Bay as one of the Top 7 New Natural Wonders of the World.

The event, as Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium, Pham Sanh Chau said, was to introduce a beautiful Vietnam through lotus, dance and traditional food.

The Ambassador hoped the understanding on Vietnam’s culture as well as the good relationship between Vietnam and Belgium in every field would be promoted during the event. Besides, international friends and overseas Vietnamese would vote for Halong Bay, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Vietnam and twice recognized as the Natural Heritage of the Mankind, as Ms. Yanou Collart praised.

In the evening, participants enjoyed various traditional dishes of Vietnam such as spring roll, vermicelli and sour crab soup and kohlrabi salad.

They also highly praised sugar-coated lotus seeds and cakes made of ground green bean as a typical quintessence of Vietnam’s cuisine.

As well, other artistic programs, such as an Ao dai (the traditional dress of Vietnam) performance, all received deafening applauses.
