VGP – A group of 110 Vietnamese small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) went to Singapore to seek trade and investment opportunities.
This was an initiative launched by the Viet Nam-Singapore Friendship Association, the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, and the Viet Nam Business Association.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Nguyen Minh Tien underlined the first large-scale Vietnamese SMEs delegation to Singapore in the context of deep international integration. The SMEs hoped to take advantage of Singapore as a gateway to regional and international markets, especially the EU, which is important partner of both Viet Nam and Singapore.
Mr. Thian Tai Chew, a representative from the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) informed a recent survey that Singaporean enterprises selected ASEAN as the leading destination for overseas investment of which Viet Nam ranked third. Hence, there were wide potentials for the two sides to beef up joint-venture cooperative models and connectivity.
Over 24,000 SBF members mostly SMEs are interested in the Vietnamese markets, especially in the areas of food, retail sale, e-commerce, supply chains, infrastructure, and urban development. These fields are among Singapore’s strengths, he added.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese SMEs got information on Singapore’s investment and business environment and addresses on export promotion./.
