(VOV) - The annual meeting of Vietnamese non-governmental organizations (VNGOs) was held in Hanoi by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) on December 14.
This year’s event, themed “promoting cooperation between State agencies and VNGOs”, was focused on reducing poverty, ensuring equality and rights of ethnic people, preventing sexual-based domestic violence and violence against children, and promoting the participation of social organizations in the “Aid Effectiveness” program in Vietnam.
It also provided a platform for social organizations to share their experience and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between State agencies and VNGOs in the future.
VUSTA Deputy Secretary General Pham Bich San said it is necessary to work out measures to get VNGOs involved actively in the process of national development.
Social organizations in Vietnam have significantly improved their role, as seen in their close coordination with State agencies and localities to handle social issues such as poverty reduction, natural resources reservation, gender equality, and child protection.
