Dr. Tran Quyet Tien, vice director of Ho Chi Minh City-based Cho Ray Hospital, said Kieu Thi My Dung, 22, and Thach Thi Sa Ly, 36, have regained consciousness and their conditions are improving, VTC News reported.
Dung, from the Central Highlands province Lam Dong, had a tumor weighing more than 2 kilograms removed from her face last Friday after a seven-hour surgery conducted by Dr. McKay McKinnon, a renowned Chicago-based plastic surgeon, and Vietnamese doctors.
McKinnon also performed a six-hour surgery on Ly, from the Mekong Detla province of Soc Trang, last Saturday to remove part of thousands of bubble-like lumps that densely covered her body and face.
Dung now can drink milk normally, while Ly had milk via a tube connected to her stomach, Tien said in the news website.

According to Le Hanh, head of Cho Ray’s Plastic Surgery Department, Dung will undergo many more minor surgeries to have her face shaped properly.
Ly, meanwhile, will have the remaining tumors removed in more operations. During the first surgery, doctors just treated 30 percent of Ly's tumors, mainly those affecting her physical functions and threatening her life.
Both the women suffered from the rare human genetic disorder known as Neurofibromatosis. Their tumors extended as they grew older because they were unable to afford treatment.
Last week, McKinnon also performed a 10-hour surgery to remove an 82-kilogram tumor from the right leg of 32-year-old Nguyen Van Hai, who is now recovering as well.
