(CPV) - Six Vietnamese students all won medals at the 8 th international junior science Olympiad (IJSO) held from December 5 th -10 th in Durban, South Africa.

The Vietnamese team had six students from the Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School. The six medals include three silver ones for Le Minh Duc, Tran Minh Tuan, Vu Dang Minh Quan and three bronze ones for Nguyen Van Minh, Hoang Trong Nam Anh and Luong Viet Hoang.

The annual IJSO is for students under the age of 15 and focuses on the three natural science subjects of physics, chemistry and biology.

This is the fourth time Vietnam has participated in the competition and this is the best result to date. In last year’s competition in Nigeria, Vietnam won five bronze medals.

This year’s competition attracted the participation of almost 600 contestants from 46 nations and territories worldwide.
