Vietnam wins one gold medal at International Chemistry Olympiad

All four Vietnamese students participating in the 44 th International Chemistry Olympiad held in the USA have won medals, including one gold.

According to Tran Van Kien, Deputy Director of Department of Examinations and Quality Investigation under the Ministry of Education and Training, the gold medal belonged to Pham Dang Huy, a 12 chemistry grader from Tran Phu Gifted High-School, Hai Phong city.

Students Nguyen Van Phuong from Nguyen Hue Gifted High-School, Hanoi and Nguyen Viet Hoang from Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High-School won silver medals while student Tran Thi Mai Huong from Le Hong Phong Gifted High-School, Nam Dinh Province bagged a bronze medal.

Mr. Kien also revealed that the achievement was remarkable because Vietnamese team won four medals, two silver and two bronze, at International Chemistry Olympiad in 2010 in Tokyo, Japan and in 2011 in Turkey.

Previously, six Vietnamese students at the 53 rd International Math Olympiad hosted by Argentina also won medals. Attentively, student Dau Hai Dang from Hanoi University of Pedagogics pocketed a gold medal.

Earlier, a silver and three bronze medals were obtained by Vietnamese team at the International Biology Olympiad.
