Nhan Dan Online – Vietnam showed great spirit coming from behind to beat Hong Kong (China) 2-1 on June 10 in an international friendly match at Mongkok Stadium, Hong Kong.
After several missed chances on both sides, striker Au Yeung Yiu-Chung struck in the 41st minute to put Hong Kong ahead 1-0.
In the second half, Vietnam intensified their attack and put mounting pressure on the host team aiming to score the equaliser.
It was not until the 70th minute that substitute Van Quyet smashed an unstoppable drive into Hong Kong’s goal to tie up the game just before Trong Hoang scored the decisive goal three minutes later to seal a fine 2-1 victory for Vietnam.
This was Vietnam’s first win under newly-appointed local coach Phan Thanh Hung. Earlier, Vietnam lost 3-0 to China in a friendly match at Wuhan Stadium, China on June 8.
