As many as 2.49 million foreign guests visited Vietnam in the first four months of 2012, up by 22.9 per cent against the same time last year, according to the General Department of Statistics.
Of the figure, some 1.48 million were international tourists, 429,000 were businesspeople and the remainder for other purposes.
In April, the number of South Korean visitors to Vietnam increased by 71.1 per cent compared to the same time last year.
During the first four months of the year, China remained Vietnam’s largest tourist market with some 513,200 visitors.
This year, Vietnam’s tourism sector set a target of 6.5 million international guests and 32 million domestic tourists and turnover of VND150,000billion.
