As women's football was not included in the official programme of the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games taking place in Indonesia next month, the AFF decided to hold this event in Vientiane, Laos, to support the development of women's football in the region.
After winning a gold medal at the SEA Games in Laos two years ago, the Vietnamese team is set to defend their championship title this year.
The team will compete in Group A against Indonesia, Singapore, and hosts Laos, while Group B will see competition among Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
