Vietnam to attend World Chess Olympiad

Ten Vietnamese chess masters will attend the 2010 World Chess Olympiad held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from September 20 to October 4. Participants at the event are Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Dao Thien Hai, Nguyen Anh Dung, Nguyen Duc Hoa, Hoang Thi Bao Tram, Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Hoang Thi Nhu Y and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung. 1,380 masters from 158 countries and territories are expected to compete in the Olympiad. At the 38th Olympiad in Dresden, Germany, the Vietnamese men’s team consisting of Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Dao Thien Hai, Tu Hoang Thong, and Nguyen Van Huy, ranked 9th among 154 teams and won the cup for group B. The women’s team including Thanh Tu, Thien Kim, Thao Nguyen, Bao Tram and Bich Ngoc ranked 26th. After the event, three masters, Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Pham Le Thao Nguyen, will attend a blitz chess competition in France from October 22 to November 1.
