Squashing Indonesia 14-0, the Vietnamese national women football squad finished first in their group stage at AFF Women's Football Championship 2011.
The Vietnamese team under coach Chow Yun Fat won all of their three games in the group stage, scoring a total 27 goals while losing only one.
Earlier they trounced Singapore 9-1 at the opening match and later crushed hosts Laos 4-0.
On the same day, Laotian striker Souphavanh Phyavnah upset the Singaporean squad by sealing a hattrick plus one before the match ended with a 5-0 victory to Laos.
With six points after three games, Laos finished second in the group stage and grabbed group A’s other ticket to the semifinals.
Vietnam will face the second-ranking of group B, which will be either Thailand or Myanmar in the first semifinal match on October 23.
Thailand is temporarily topping group B, followed by Myanmar, which shares the same points with the latter but has lower goal difference.
The two will face each other tomorrow to determine the final ranking.
