Falko Goetz has been sacked as the coach of Vietnam football team due to the team’s poor performance at the 26th SeaGames held in Indonesia last month, the country’s football federation announced at a meeting on Thursday.

Goetz has to take major responsibility for the team’s loss in Indonesia, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said in a statement.
At the meeting, all VFF memebers agreed to end the contract with Goezt.
Nevertheless, VFF still agreed to keep Tran Quoc Tuan on as the federation’s General Secretary despite public pressure and his resignation letter.
However, VFF is still waiting for the final decision from General Department of Sports on his future because Tuan had been earlier appointed by the department as VFF’s General Secretary.
In his resignation letter, Tuan wrote that he preferred to return to his former work at the General Department of Sports and Physical Training or the Institute of Sports Sciences.
Tuan took over the VFF post in 2005. Before that, he was vice chief of the Institute of Sports Sciences.
