The education ministry bestowed 65 teachers with the official title of professor at Hanoi’s Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giac, or Temple of Literature, on Friday.
Another 641 teachers were granted the title of associate professor at the ceremony held on Vietnam Teacher’s Day.
Short-listed from 1,176 applicants, the new professors and associate professors work mostly in the field of medicine.
Vo Van Hoang, 45, who teaches Physics at Ho Chi Minh City’s University of Technology, was the youngest new professor this year, while the youngest associate professor was 31-year-old Bui The Duy from Hanoi’s College of Technology.
Since 1980, Vietnam has recognized 1,336 professors and 7,062 associate professors, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nhan said at the ceremony.
