HCMC – The country’s tourism authority will organize tourism and cultural festivals in South Korea and Russia, and join the World Travel Market (WTM) event in England to promote the image of Vietnamese tourism and meet with partners in these three source markets.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the 2012 Vietnam Tourism-Culture Festival will take place in Changwon and Seoul of South Korea from June 6 to 9. A similar event will be held in Vladivostok City, Russia from June 10 to 13.

The two festivals will feature art performances, traditional costume performances, tourism workshops, photo exhibitions on the country and people of Vietnam, cuisine and handicrafts.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said the country attracted 3.36 million international tourists in the year’s first half, up 13.9% over the same period last year.

South Korea is the fastest-growing market, with tourist arrivals in the first six months surging 41.3% year-on-year to some 367,000.

In the meantime, only over 100,000 Russians arrived in the country but the figure is expected to grow well in the coming time as there are more chartered flights connecting Russia and the central coastal cities.
