The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has asked China to clarify an incident in which a Vietnamese airplane was asked to circle around for nearly one hour in the country’s skies for unclear reasons.
A VnExpress report Friday said the CAAV sent a letter to Chinese aviation authorities on Thursday to learn more about the incident that the state-owned Vietnam Airlines’ airplane faced when it was flying from Hanoi to Seoul on January 15.
The airplane was passing over Guangzhou province when the local air traffic control agency asked it to circle around, saying there was some dangerous activity in the area, according to the newswire.
After flying around for 55 minutes, the airplane ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing in Shanghai for refuelling, delaying the flight by many hours, the report said.
