CPV: Canada welcomes the announcement of the Government of Vietnam to open access to Canadian live breeding cattle, sheep and goats to the Vietnamese market starting from August 1, said the Embassy of Canada to Hanoi on September 7.
With this opening, Vietnamese clients will be able to procure high quality live animals from Canada for breeding purposes. These animals are produced with the Canadian livestock population’s traceability, transparent verification systems of genetic ability, and high health standards.

“The opening of the Vietnamese market to Canadian live cattle, goat and sheep is a milestone in Canada – Vietnam relations. This access will benefit Vietnamese clients and Canadian ranchers as well as, ultimately, Vietnamese consumers”, said Ms Deborah Chatsis, Ambassador of Canada to Vietnam.
Last month, a Vietnamese delegation including officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and representatives from the private sector participated in an exploratory visit to a number of farms in Canada. They were introduced to Canada’s most current technology as well as genetics and herd health management programs. This visit highlighted areas where the two sides can work together in order to improve Vietnamese genetics technologies and their performance ability./.
