In addition to the aid package of US $200,000, the Vietnamese Government is willing to send a medical team to Japan to help Japan overcome the aftermath of the tsunami and recent fierce earthquake, said Deputy-Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son, on March 14th at a reception of Mr. Yasuaki Tanizaki, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam.
At the reception, the Deputy-Foreign Minister expressed his deep sympathy to the Japanese people who have experienced severe losses, and he also affirmed the solidarity of Vietnamese people with the Japanese at this time.
The Japanese Ambassador showed gratitude to Vietnamese leaders’ letters of sympathy and urgent support.
He said that Japanese authorities have been working with relevant Vietnamese agencies in Japan in protecting Vietnamese expatriates. No confirmation relating to casualties of Vietnamese during the strong earthquake and tsunami in Japan has been made so far.
Furthermore, he confirmed the explosion at the Fukushima Number One Nuclear Plant and the ensuing situation was under control and a serious radiation leak has not occurred. Band furthermore, the incident was different from the Chernobyl disaster.
