Vietnam always attaches importance to boosting ties with other nations, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet.
The State leader made the remark while receiving newly accredited ambassadors to Vietnam , who presented their credentials in Hanoi on Mar. 2.
The guests were ambassadors from Thailand , Qatar , Belarus , Ghana , Paraguay and Portugal .
Host and guests exchanged views on bilateral relations and potential to boost comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and those countries, for common development as well as for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
President Triet asked the ambassadors to actively coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to accelerate the exchange of visits, share information on potential and strengths for cooperation and promote mutual understanding.
President Triet affirmed that the Vietnamese State would create favourable conditions for the ambassadors to fulfill their tasks, contributing to expanding relations between Vietnam and Thailand , Qatar , Belarus , Ghana , Paraguay and Portugal .
Thai Ambassador Anuson Chivanno said that on the basis of the close relations between the two countries, Thailand focused on boosting economic cooperation with Vietnam . He pledged to encourage Thai businesses to invest in the country.
For his part, Qatar Ambassador Mohamed Bin Jaber Abdullah Alsulaiti said that during his term of office in Vietnam , he would focus his task on developing economic relations between the two countries as that was the interest of Qatar ’s King in boosting relations with Vietnam .
On the Belarus-Vietnam relations, Belarusian Ambassador Valeriy E. Sadoho said that last year’s visit to Belarus by President Triet brought marked results, especially in two-way trade, which saw an increase of over 30 percent. He said he would pay much attention to boosting economic and production cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing admiration at the socio-economic development of Vietnam , the Ghanaian Ambassador said that Ghana wish to boost economic and investment cooperation with Vietnam , especially in rice cultivation and aquaculture. He also mentioned the potential in oil and gas industry as Ghana became an exporter of crude oil late last year.
Meanwhile, Paraguayan concurrent Ambassador to Vietnam Naoyuki Toyotoshi expressed his hope that the upcoming visit to Vietnam by President Fernando Lugo Mendez would be an opportunity for the two sides to work out measures to boost cooperative ties.
Portuguese concurrent Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Ryder Torres Pereira said that Portugal wished to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam as well as with the Southeast Asian region. He said that the development of relations between the two countries had not matched the potential and aspiration of the two peoples, so Portugal was making preparations to open consulates in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City./.
