Vietnam comes third at ASEAN ParaGames

Vietnam won 73 golds, 57 silvers and 45 bronzes and came third at the fifth ASEAN ParaGames which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 14 to 19. The track and field athletes got a total of 26 golds, 29 silvers and 12 bronzes. Particularly, Nguyen Sa Ry who was one of the top three at the Games took three golds in swimming events, setting one Asian Paragames record and two ASEAN Paragames records. At the fifth ASEAN Paragames, 18 ASEAN Paragames and 4 Asian Paragames records were set. The head of the Vietnamese team, Vu The Phiet said that the athletes had successfully fulfilled their task and maintained the country’s position. The sixth Paragames will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2011.
