Vietnam and the Philippines boost naval cooperation

PANO - Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty, Chief-of-the-General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army, Deputy-Defence Minister received visiting Vice-Admiral Alexander P. Pama, Commander of the Navy of The Philippines on March 13th at the Ministry’s Headquarters.

At the reception, General Ty highly appreciated the results gained at the working session between The Philippine and Vietnamese Naval Commanders.

General Ty emphasized that the Vice-Admiral’s visit to Vietnam this time was not only in implementation of the bilateral defence cooperation agreement and an MoU on boosting cooperation, sharing information and enhancing mutual understanding and trust, but also an important contribution to the development of bilateral defence cooperation especially between the two navies.

General Ty stressed the need of further cooperation between the two navies in training, information sharing, search and rescue, delegation exchange, and joint marine patrol.
