Nguyen Phuong Mai and Nguyen Huu Long have been crowned at the “Vietnam Supermodel” modeling contest, which concluded over the last weekend at Ha Noi's Quan Ngua Sport Palace.
The two contestants, who are both from Hanoi but are based in Ho Chi Minh City for their modeling careers, beat 26 finalists to win the Golden prizes worth VND200million (US$10,000) each after several rounds, including ao dai, swimsuit and evening gown, and a dancing round to test contestants’ ability of feel the beats on the catwalk.
Phuong Mai, 22, made her catwalk debut in 2007 and has become a familiar face of the local fashion scene ever since.
She made it to the top 10 of the Asian Supermodel Contest in China in 2009, and finished in the top 15 in the Miss Vietnam World contest a year later. She was also the only Vietnamese representative at the global modeling contest called The Look of the Year, held in Italy in 2011.
Before being crowned at Vietnam Super Model 2012, male model Nguyen Huu Long also attended the Supermodel 2011 contest and finished in the top six, in addition to winning the Best Body title.
