Vietnamese Finance Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam
Ministers Hue and Tharman agreed to further promote bilateral co-operation in the finance sector under the memorandum of understanding signed by the two finance ministries in 2009.
They also discussed ways to enhance financial co-operation within ASEAN and a number of other issues related to the Chiang Mai Initiative on multilateralisation.
Deputy Minister Tharman highly appreciated Vietnam’s role in regional and international forums and says he hopes to strengthen trade ties between Vietnam and Singapore.
During his three-day visit, Minister Hue had a meeting with Chairman of the Singapore Government-owned Temasek Holdings to discuss the restructuring of Singapore’s State-run companies.
Minister Hue also visited the Singapore Institute of Management and attended a workshop on bad debts and corporate finance restructuring held by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).
