On June 19, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Thanh Hai; Municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary and People’s Council Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, paid a working visit and congratulated Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper for the occasion. A delegation from the National Assembly in Ho Chi Minh city also attended the events.
Politburo member Le Thanh Hai expressed strong appreciation for the efforts made by the Party newspaper in fulfilling its political tasks as well as improving the quality of the newspaper’s publications.
Nhan Dan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu expressed his thanks to the care and attention paid by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee to the newspaper, especially its representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.
* The same day, the Editorial Board and Party Committee of Nhan Dan Newspaper held a get-together in Hanoi to celebrate Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day.
At the event, the newspaper’s staff reviewed the glorious tradition of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, and commemorated President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese revolutionary press and journalists who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and freedom.
In his speech, Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu reaffirmed the Party newspaper’s role in disseminating Party guidelines and State policies, especially Party Central Committee’s resolution on urgent issues related to Party building among its members and people. The newspaper has also successfully launched two writing contests about ‘Agriculture, Farmers and Rural Areas’ and ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example.’
Outstanding journalists from Nhan Dan Newspaper were also presented rewards and insignia for their contributions to the cause of the Vietnamese press on the occasion.
* On June 19, the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee and People’s Council organised a meeting for leaders and journalists from press agencies.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Heads of Party Central Committee Commission for Education and Communication Nguyen The Ky and Bui The Duc.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Cong Soai highlighted the achievements the press agencies have recorded over the past years and expressed belief that the press will further contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation and the capital city in particular.
* Also on the same day, the Thua Thien-Hue provincial Journalists’ Association held a ceremony to celebrate the 87th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day and presented the 5th annual Thua Thien-Hue Press Awards to 11 outstanding entries.
* 24 outstanding press works also received the 6th Huynh Thuc Khang Press Awards at a ceremony held by the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee yesterday. This year, the organising board received more than 130 entries from media including print, radio, television, and online.
