Vietnam National Flower project submitted to Prime Minister

The Hanoitimes - The Speaker of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST), Mr. To Van Dong, announced that the Ministry officially submitted the Vietnam National Flower project to the Prime Minister for approval.

According to Mr. Dong, the project has been posted o­n the ministry’s website and sent to other ministries and branches for the poll. The pink lotus also won a vote o­n the website of the MoCST and the majority of the public.

The MoCST is the agency tasked by the Prime Minister with choosing the Vietnam National Flower. To meet the criteria to be chosen it has to originate from Vietnam or have been grown in most parts of the country for a long time.

Beside these, the National Flower has to embody the both cultural identity and national spirit. The Vietnam National Flower represents the noble mind and pure spirit of the Vietnamese and is the best symbol to characterize Vietnam
