(VOV) - Vietnamese Marine Police ship number 2002 rescued a fishing boat 25 nautical miles northwest of Tho Chu Island in Phu Quoc district, Kien Giang province, on January 27.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Luu Tien Thang from the Vietnam Marine Police Political Division said that the marine ship reached the ailing vessel, captained by Bui Van Luyen from Tran Dang Thoi district in Ca Mau province, two hours after receiving its distress signal.
“Two of the 12 crewmen on board the fishing boat had been injured when we were able to reach them,” Thang said.
Cadres and soldiers on the Marine Police ship administered first aid to the injured, provided the crewmen with food, and helped repair the boat.
The Marine ship is now tugging the fishing boat to Tho Chu island.
