Representatives of Vietnamese and Lao journalist associations sign a co-operation agreement in early 2010.
The Vietnamese and Lao press has achieved a close, comprehensive and effective bilateral co-operation and in world forums over the past 60 years.
Lao Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Bosengkham Vongdala, who is also Chairman of the Lao Journalists’ Association, made the remark in an interview on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Lao Press Day (August 13).
This co-operation has not only greatly contributed to the dissemination of both countries’ State and Party policies but also improved public awareness of the special ties between Vietnam and Laos , he said.
In any case, in war or in peace, the press of both Vietnam and Laos always stands side by side, the Lao Deputy Minister said. He also expressed his belief that this excellent relationship will continue to prosper in the future.
On behalf of his ministry and Lao people working in the press sector, he thanked the Vietnamese press including VNA, Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam and the Vietnam Journalists’ Association for their support.
He said the Vietnamese and Lao presses will continue to work closely through exchanges of information, professional skills and delegations as well as training personnel.
Vietnam Television will open a representative office in Laos and Laos will send correspondents to Hanoi, he said. (VNA)
