President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa on September 11 received a visiting delegation from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Women’s Union led by its Chairwoman Ro Song Sil.
During the meeting, Hoa said the DPRK delegation’s visit is an opportunity for the two Women’s Unions to exchange experience in women union’s work for equality, development and social progress of women.
The visit is expected to help further boost the traditional relations between the two unions, she said.
Hoa briefed her guest on her union’s activities, including preparations for the 11th National Women’s Congress scheduled in March 2012.
For her part, Ro Song Sil also informed the Vietnamese side of major women’s campaigns to be launched in 2012 to celebrate the 100th birthday of the late President Kim Il-sung and the 80th founding anniversary of the DPRK people’s army.
Earlier, a delegation from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) paid a visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the invitation of the General Federation of Trade Union of Korea (GFTUK).
The Vietnamese delegation, led by VGCL Chairman Dang Ngoc Tung, was received by General Choe Ryong He, Secretary of the DPRK Workers’ Party Central Committee.
At the meeting, Choe Ryong He spoke highly of the visit which, he said, takes place at a time when the DPRK Party, State and people are celebrating the 63rd National Day of the DPRK (September 9).
He expressed his he hope that the friendship and traditional cooperation between the two trade unions in particular and between the Parties, States and people of the two countries in general will be continuously consolidated and developed in the future.
