Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has expressed the hope for closer attachment between the Vietnamese and Cambodian Governments and people.
Deputy PM Ninh made the statement at a reception given to his Cambodian counterpart Men Sam On in Hanoi on Jan. 7.
Ninh welcomed the attendance of the Cambodian Royal Government’s delegation at the Hanoi meeting to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Victory over the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime in Cambodia.
The Cambodian Deputy PM thanked the Vietnamese Party and Government for the meeting to mark the historical significance of the victory on January 7, 1979.
The Cambodian people will forever bear in mind the sincere assistance of the Vietnamese Party, State, army, experts and people to them in overturning the genocide regime and in national concord and national development, said Men Sam On.
She affirmed the determination to step up the traditional neighbouring friendship and long-term all-round cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam.
Later the same day, the Cambodian Royal Government’s delegation was received by Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Secretariat Le Hong Anh in Hanoi.
Deputy PM Men Sam On affirmed that the Cambodian Party, State, Royal Government and people will exert their utmost to preserve the achievements and foster the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The Politburo member thanked the Cambodian Party, State and people for their valuable support to Vietnam and said he hopes both sides will effectively organise the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012.
He affirmed that the traditional neighbouring friendship and long-term comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia is a valuable asset of the two nations that need to be preserved for each country’s prosperous development and for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress in the world./.
