Members of the Vietnam and Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group have been working to promote ties between both countries and legislative bodies.
At their May 29 talks, the Chairman of the Vietnam-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group Le Viet Truong said the Belarusian delegation’s visit to Vietnam opens up more prospects for co-operation between the two countries which will raise their relations to a new level.
Truong briefed the delegation on Vietnam’s National Assembly and the country’s socio-economic situation in the first four months of this year. He said the relationship between Vietnam and Belarus has been growing, especially economically with two-way trade now reaching US$211 million.
They also work closely together in education, especially in science-technology training, added Truong, saying he hoped that both countries will continue to strengthen the close relationship between their legislative bodies as well as in security and defence and socio-economic co-operation.
The Chairman of the Belarus-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, Vitalt Busko said that the talks provided an opportunity for both parties to get to know each other better and he hoped the relationship between both countries becomes stronger.
He also expressed a desire for Vietnam to help Belarus access the Southeast Asian market and pledged his support to Vietnam to help it penetrate the European market further.
