Vietnam has always attached importance to developing multifaceted cooperation with Armenia, said State President Truong Tan Sang.
Mr Sang made the affirmation at a reception for Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian in Hanoi on February 24. He thanked Armenia for its support for Vietnam’s past struggle for national independence and present Renewal (Doi Moi) process.
He stressed that both sides should perfect their agreements to further strengthen cooperation in economics, trade, and education-training.
Vietnam will be a gateway for Armenia to expand relations with other nations within the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) when a regional economic community is established in 2015, he said.
President Sang said that in the future both sides should promote the exchange of high-ranking delegations and expressed his belief that the upcoming Vietnam visit of the Armenian President will bring the bilateral relationship to a higher level.
For his part, Foreign Minister Nalbandian highlighted the traditional friendship between the two countries.
He also said he is impressed by Vietnam’s development and its role in the region and proposed both countries further promote trade and economic ties as well as cooperating closely in regional and international forums.
