(VOV) - The Republic of Korean Ambassador for Development Cooperation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Cho Tae-yul has confirmed this fact on the sidelines of the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan.
Ambassador Cho Tae-yul said the two countries have established their strategic partnership since 2009 and shared many similarities in terms of culture, people’s hardworking nature and history of national defence and construction.
Vietnam is in the list of top priorities to get ODA from the RoK, Cho said.
He quoted President Lee Myung-bak as saying that the RoK is committed to doubling its ODA funding for developing countries by 2015.
While in the face of economic slowdown many countries have to cut or stop providing ODA for developing countries, the RoK still tries to fulfill its commitments to 26 countries, and 50-60 percent of its funding will go to ASEAN countries.
The RoK is considered a successful development model. From an ODA recipient, the RoK has become a developed nation capable of providing ODA for many developing countries, including Vietnam.
