(CPV) – On March 15 th , in Hanoi , the Ministry of Health coordinated with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) to organize a seminar on universal health insurance.
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) are coordinating on a project improving capacity in health insurance policy-making and management. The project is being carried out from 2011 to 2013, focusing on making policies on health finance and health insurance; the role and tasks of relevant agencies in making policies and state management in health insurance, and basic solutions to consolidate and complete health insurance system.
As a part of the project, the seminar aimed to share the RoK’s experience in working towards universal health insurance as well as lessons in the management and implementation of health insurance in the RoK over the past year.
Universal health insurance is considered a remarkable contribution to people of all walks in the society, creating conditions for all people without distinction to escape from financial risk when suffering from diseases.
Participants shared difficulties of Vietnam in implementing and managing health insurance, experiences of other countries which implemented universal health insurance; and raised ideas on the strategy to expand the coverage of health insurance in Vietnam .
They agreed that working toward universal health insurance, in 2012 and the near future, relevant agencies need to promote inspection in enterprises to pay adequate health insurance./.
