Nhan Dan – The Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Ranjit Rae has announced that numerous cultural and trade events and academic conferences are to be held across the country to mark the “Vietnam – India Friendship Year 2012”.

The Ambassador stated that the activities will enhance the relationship between India and Vietnam which is already strengthening in the business sector. In 2011 bilateral trade reached US$ 3.9 billion, an increase of 34% over the previous year. As of December 2011, Indian companies have invested US$ 790.5 million in 78 projects across various sectors such as oil and gas exploration, minerals, sugar manufacturing, agro-chemicals, agricultural processing, as well as information and communications technology (ICT).

The continued strengthening of the relationship will promote peace, stability, co-operation and prosperity in the region and the rest of the world.
