VGP - The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said it will implement the project on growing vegetables according to VietGAP standards in Hà Nội, Vĩnh Phúc, Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Bắc Ninh, Nghệ An, Ninh Thuận, Lâm Đồng, Đắk Lắk in the 2011-2013 period.
The VND 9 billion project is aimed at ensuring food security, helping to establish larger VietGAP vegetable-growing areas.
Under the project, 7 kinds of vegetables will be grown under VietGAP standards in an area of 675 hectares. Besides, 27 training courses will be held to train 810 agricultural promotion officers, and 405 courses to train farmers.
Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) are principles, processes and procedures that guide organizations and individuals in producing, harvesting and semi-processing to ensure safety, improve product quality, ensure social welfares, health of producers and consumers, protect environment and trace origins of products.
