Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed Viet Nam's consistent policy of doing everything in its power to deepen bilateral co-operative relations with the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.

HA NOI — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has affirmed Viet Nam's consistent policy of doing everything in its power to deepen bilateral co-operative relations with the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.

At a reception for new Uruguayan Ambassador Carlos Irigaray, PM Dung said he was happy about the positive developments in bilateral economic and trade relations, with two-way trade last year doubling the 2010 figure.

The PM urged Uruguay to send a representative to the Viet Nam-Latin America Ministers' Conference which would soon be hosted by Viet Nam.

He said he hoped Uruguay would promptly recognise Viet Nam as a market economy and the two countries would support each other in international and regional forums.

The Vietnamese Government would create favourable conditions for the ambassador to fulfil his term of office in Viet Nam, said the PM.

Ambassador Irigaray affirmed he would co-operate closely with Viet Nam's relevant ministries and sectors to promote new co-operative programmes, especially in economics, trade, investment, culture and education.

Uruguay always did its best to help Viet Nam's commodities penetrate its market, said the diplomat, adding that the country would become a gateway for Viet Nam's goods to enter the South American market. — VNS
