The men’s individual category saw the clash between defending champion Tran Tuan Quynh from Hanoi T&T and the two-time Olympian Doan Kien Quoc from PetroVietnam. Using his abundant experience and stable form, Kien Quoc avenged his 1-4 loss to Tuan Quynh in the finals last year with a 4-2 aggregate victory to claim this year’s men’s singles title.
On the women’s side, Nguyen Thi Viet Linh from the Ministry of Public Security produced an outstanding performance to beat Vietnam’s top female player Mai Hoang My Trang from Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications 3-1 in their clash Friday to snatch the gold medal.
Duo My Trang and Huy Bao from Ho Chi Minh City Communications succeeded in defending their mix doubled title after beating Dinh Quang Linh (the Military team) and Phan Hoang Tuong Giang (the Ministry of Public Security) in the decisive match. The bronze medal of this category went to Nguyen Nam Hai and Ngo Thi Minh Thuy (Hanoi T&T), and Nguyen Thanh Luan and Vu Thi Thu Ha (the Military team).
At the closing ceremony, VietsovPetro won the fair-play prize. Doan Ba Tuan Anh from Hoang Thach Cement Hai Duong and Nguyen Ngoc Yen Nhi from Ho Chi Minh City Telecommunications, received prizes for being the most promising young male and female players.
