Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) JV Company and the VSIP management board announced that they raised US$50,000 at the annual VSIP Charity Day held at the weekend.
The VSIP Charity Day draws in tenants and their workers to raise funds to support the poor and the underprivileged in Binh Duong Province.
This year, the event took place in conjunction with ‘Labor Month 2012’, organized to commemorate Vietnam’s 126th International Labor Day. The two-day carnival featured art performances, sports events, traditional games and a charity fun fair, and saw the participation of more than 300 tenants and thousands of workers from VSIP. Supported by the Investment and Trade Promotion Center, the fun fair had 67 kiosks, selling goods to workers with discounts of up to 50%. There was also a charity dinner with pageant contestants dressed in national costumes from around the world.
Since its launch in 2003, the VSIP Charity Day has collected more than US$500,000.
*To celebrate this year’s International Children’s Day on June 1, a program will be hosted at Kenh Dao Area, Ton Dat Tien Street in Phu My Hung, District 7 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Themed ‘Supporting dreams’, the VND1.8 billion program will arrange 30 games for local children.
Organizers have set aside VND100 million to present scholarships and gifts to poor students. The event is expected to attract 8,000-10,000 people.
