PANO – “The Department for Information Technology should be proactive in researching and applying advanced technologies to make the information technology service in the army a modern one,” said a high-ranking leader of Vietnam People’s Army.
Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of VPA, made the statement on April 18 th at a ceremony in Hanoi to announce the Ministry of National Defence’s decision on the establishment of the Department for Information Technology.
Addressing at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant-General Do Ba Ty asked the department to soon finalise its organisation and staff to gradually function as assigned tasks.
He also asked the department to focus on building development plan to 2020 and the following years to submit to the Ministry of National Defence to finalise the legal framework and work out measures to boost IT application and development to ensure network security throughout the army.
Major-General Ngo Van Son, former Commander of Information and Communication Command, was appointed as Director of the Department for Information Technology, under the General Staff of VPA.
