(VOV) - Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) is ready to receive more than 400 international and 200 domestic delegates at the 8th Asia Media Summit (AMS 8), scheduled to take place in Hanoi from May 21-26.
Initiated by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in 2004, the annual event provides a forum for media agencies in the region to share their experiences and ideas on radio and television broadcasting and technology.
Dao Duy Hua, VOV Deputy General Director and Head of the AMS 8 Organising Board, said that VOV will pay special attention to the content of the summit.
The preparation for the summit is wrapping up. The AIBD has worked closely with VOV, Vietnam Television (VTV) and Vietnam News Agency (VNA) over the past months to ensure that this summit will be successful, he added.
The summit will be covered by all of VOV radio broadcasting channels, the Radio Image Broadcasting Channel and VOV Online Newspaper.
Nguyen Tien Long, Director of VOV International Cooperation Department, said that all the translators will be VOV staff. VOV will cooperate with AIBD to organise a group of translators for three different languages including Vietnamese, English and Arabic.
Delegates at the summit will discuss issues that they have to face in the digital era with all the new kinds of media.
Marcel Gormez, Programme Manager of the Secretariat Staff under the AIBD, said that he was pleased with VOV’s preparations and believes that the AMS8 will be a great success.
Founded in 1977 in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, under the auspices of UNESCO, AIBD now has 26 member countries, 94 affiliate members and 58 partners from the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.
As an AIBD member since 1981, Vietnam has played an increasingly important role in the organisation through its attendance at many international conferences and summits.
The ASM 8 is a good chance for Vietnam to promote its radio and television broadcasting services to international friends.
